Bigfoot, Yeti, Nessie & Co.

Cryptozoology is concerned with the search for supposedly unknown or not yet scientifically recognized animals known as cryptids. These creatures are often mentioned in local legends or folklore, but their existence (outside of these myths) has yet to
be proven – if it can ever be proven at all. Cryptids include the Bigfoot, Yeti, Loch Ness monster, werewolves, sea serpents, giant squid and dragons. Cryptozoologists collect and analyze tracks, sightings and all kinds of data to confirm or disprove their exist- ence. There are also cases of cryptids that have later been con- firmed as real creatures – such as the Okapi, the Komodo dragon, the Giant Squid or the (falsely believed extinct) Coelacanth.
