2pac is alive

The best-known conspiracy theory in hip-hop is that the legendary rapper faked his death. His management shamelessly exploited this as a PR strategy. The posthumous album The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, released under his alias Makaveli, forms the basis for most of these theories. ‚Makaveli‘ is a reference to the philosopher Niccolò Machiavelli, who wrote about the deception of death as a tactical means of deceiving enemies in his work Il Principe. The album was advertised with posters that conspirato- rially urged fans to listen carefully. However, the idea that 2Pac has been quietly sitting on his hands for decades, calmly watching from exile his legacy being exploited, doesn’t quite align with the outspoken artist.
