Opus Dei

Opus Dei is a Roman Catholic organization founded in 1928 by the Spanish priest Josemaría Escrivá. Its aim is to promote holiness in daily life and to encourage the faithful to live their lives in accordance with Catholic doctrine. Some conspiracy theories claim that the organization is involved in illegal activities such as money laundering, political manipulation or criminal activities. It has allegedly built up a covert global network, controlling the Vatican and the financial markets while pursuing its secret plans to establish a New World Order. Many of these allegations are probably inspired by Dan Brown‘s best-selling novel Da Vinci Code, in which Opus Dei is portrayed as a secret, all-powerful and evil sect within the Catholic Church.
