As part of the secret research program MK ULTRA, the CIA conducted thousands of human experiments from 1953 to the early 1970s. The goal was to test mind control techniques and develop an effective truth serum. Methods included the use of electroshocks and hallucinogenic drugs. Test subjects, often arbitrarily selected from hospital patients and prison inmates, were mostly unaware of their involvement. The experiments resulted in psychological and physical damage, and in some cases, death. Conspiracy theorists believe that the program still exists today and operates on a larger scale. They claim that popular Disney cartoons and movies are actually insidious brainwashing tools for the (re)programming of millions of children. However, there is no evidence to support these outlandish claims.
